Τα φύλλα της δάφνης χρησιμοποιούνται στη φαρμακευτική, σαν σκεύασμα για την θεραπεία της γρίπης και των βρόγχων, στα κρυολογήματα και σαν αντισηπτικό στα εξωτερικά άτονα έλκη, καψίματα, σπασίματα και ρευματισμούς. Επίσης, θεωρούνται εφιδρωτικά, χολαγωγά, ηπατικά, αντιαρθριτικά και τονωτικά της λειτουργίας της πέψης.
